Hi Gina, I was very intrigued by your site. Great topics! I was wondering if you would consider a collaboration with L’Italo-Americano newspaper.

L’Italo-Americano (www.italoamericano.org) is a bilingual, biweekly newspaper serving the Italian American community throughout the United States. Established in 1908, L’Italo-Americano is the oldest Italian American newspaper in the United States with a mission to promote and preserve Italian culture and heritage by reporting in both Italian and English on subjects such as arts and culture, literature, education, history, business, sciences, sports, and lifestyle.

Published every other Thursday, it reaches about 30,000 readers via its print edition and an average of 200,000 per week through its website and social media channels.

We are looking to add to our contributing writers and thought you could be a great fit. Please let me know if interested.

Grazie mille!

Buongiorno Senorina,

I enjoyed reading your article, “Why I Studied a Second Language” and found the honesty in your writing very refreshing. I am in the midst of planning a trip to Potenza to visit the home of my grandparents. They emigrated in the early 1900’s from a small village to New York City.
There was a certain amount of serendipity in reading your article this evening; I ditched Corso di lingua italiana questa sera. I am just not getting it so I felt frustrated and down. Memorizing verb conjugations is not something that comes easily. So, reading about your love of Italiano lingua was comforting. It was also helpful reading how learning the language has added to your life.
Your writing style is wonderful, don’t change a thing.

Ciao bella,

Well thank you, Dino! Learning a second language is frustrating more often than not – but I still think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever studied. I hope you’re able to find your way back to Italian, maybe you can plan a trip to Italy as a gift for finishing the course! In any case, thanks for reading!

Hi Hassan,

Sorry, I don’t have guest posts on my blog. Thank you for reaching out though and good luck!

Hi Gina,

I am an International School Teacher and thinking about moving to Opera, Italy or somewhere near. I understand that you were, or maybe still are, a teacher in the region. Do you think $54,000 Euro would be enough for a comfortable lifestyle for a single person and yet leave some room for savings? I wouldn’t have to pay taxes until year 3. Would it be enough to live on if I stayed after I must begin paying taxes.
I appreciate your input.

Hi Jean,

This is a very relative question and I hesitate to answer it, but with 2,000 euro net per month I think you could live more than comfortably when here! If you become a resident you’ll have most health care covered as well, so your big expense will be your house. As for after you pay taxes, only your accountant can tell you that! Good luck!
